Summer 2017 Campus Road Closures and Transportation Adjustments

Effective May 26, through the remainder of Summer 2017, the roadway in front of the Hillsides residence halls (Merriweather, Clark, Hensley, and Cole Halls) will be closed to allow for contractors to make upgrades to the halls' sprinkler and fire alarm systems. Please see the map of road closures and a description of the transportation adjustments in place this summer:

  • The Vern Express
    • The drop-off point in front of Eckles Library and the pick-up point in front of Somers Hall will be suspended during this period. There will be two concurrent pick-up/drop-off points used this summer. Vern Express shuttles will pick-up and drop-off passengers at both locations.
      • Pick-up/drop-off Point #1: Next to the Athletic Field
      • Pick-up/drop-off Point #2: Behind West Hall
    • Please note the Vern Express summer schedule to plan ahead for your trips to/from campus
  • Passenger Vehicles
    • All passenger vehicles for faculty, staff, students, and visitors can access the Quad via a right-turn at the Clock Tower. The Quad roadway traffic will flow counterclockwise, and the only entrance and exit to/from the Quad will be from the roadway next to the Clock Tower.
    • All current No Parking zones on campus will be vigorously enforced for violations, and vehicles parked in these zones will be towed. Please respect your fellow campus community members and allow traffic to flow smoothly by not parking on the Quad. Tow trucks will be on-call throughout the summer to remove vehicles in violation of parking rules.
    • All Webb Building parking lots will remain closed during this period. Faculty and staff who use these lots will need to use the Parking Garage.
