Events Assistant

Assist in the scheduling of events held on the Mount Vernon Campus. Work in the event scheduling calendar software, USI, to input and update event information. Be responsible for the set up and break down of the Audio/Visual components of events, including projectors, speakers, and microphones. Act as on-site contact for clients throughout the year to provide logistics and customer service support and management for campus events such as concerts, conferences, meetings and student organization activities. Attend mandatory training sessions in the beginning of each semester. Weekend and evening shifts required. Past office experience preferred, but not required.

Excellent communication and administrative skills, computer software proficiency, reliable, highly motivated, enthusiastic, organized, able to work independently, and customer service oriented.

Digital Communications Assistant

MVC Digital Communications Assistants work in conjunction with campus partners and MVC Staff to maintain campus communications platforms and execute campus communications strategy

  • Job Requirements Include:
    • Maintaining Mount Vernon Campus social media presence by creating and posting content, monitoring social media channels, and engaging with social media community, as well as regular analysis of social media engagement levels
    • Designing graphics for social media, digital signage, posters, and email newsletters
    • Assisting with content planning, creation, and publishing of Mount Vernon Campus newsletters, as well as regular analysis of newsletter readership
    • Maintaining Mount Vernon Campus website via regular content updates, as well as regular analysis of website visitor traffic and behavior

Ideal Candidates Should:

  • Be able to work 8-12 hours per week
  • Have some weekday daytime availability, as well flexibility in schedule to work night and weekend events occasionally
  • Have excellent communication and writing skills, as well as strong attention to detail
  • Prior experience with social media, email newsletters, graphic design, and web development preferred, but training is provided

Technology Assistant

MVC Technology Assistants work in conjunction with the MVC Staff to ensure that the technology needs of the campus are met efficiently, professionally, and correctly.

  • Job Requirements Include:
    • Staffing events on the Mount Vernon Campus, preparing for, setting up, monitoring, and breaking down AV equipment
    • Ensuring campus classroom and event space audiovisual systems are working properly through regular testing, troubleshooting, and basic repairs
    • Maintaining inventory and database of campus spaces, technology, and equipment
    • Utilizing USI, the University’s event management system, to determine an event’s setup and AV needs, as well as recording any last minute changes to the event
    • Attending mandatory staff training at the beginning of each semester and mandatory staff meetings throughout the semester
    • Assist with audiovisual training of MVC Events Assistants

Ideal Candidates Should:

  • Be able to work 8-12 hours per week
  • Have a flexible schedule for working events, including evenings and weekends
  • Be self-motivated, have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Prior experience with projectors, computers, wired and wireless microphones, mixers, live audio support, professional sound equipment, digital signage, theatrical control systems, and information technology preferred, but training is provided

Fitness Center Assistant

The core components of this position include oversight of daily fitness center operations as well as providing excellent customer service. This is a great working environment and requires an energetic and hard-working person to maintain the positive and clean atmosphere in the fitness center.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Tracking usage of equipment
  • Cleaning of equipment, racking weights, and completing inventory
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Research and write health and fitness content for campus communications platforms
  • Following opening and closing procedures
  • Assist with other Mount Vernon Campus team responsibilities when assigned

  • Have excellent work ethic and communication skills
  • Have the ability to complete tasks and take initiative in an unsupervised environment
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs.
