Traditions, Events, and Programs
The Mount Vernon Campus offers unique events throughout the academic year. These events are offered exclusively at the Mount Vernon Campus, but are open to all students.
Community BBQ
Kicking off the year, the Community BBQ is one of the first opportunities for the Mount Vernon community to come together on the Quad
Vern Harvest
Traditionally held during Colonials Weekend, Vern Harvest is a chance for everyone to come together and celebrate everything that makes fall great on the Vern.
Diwali
Each fall, the Mount Vernon community celebrates Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, on the Quad as one of our major campus cultural celebrations.
Lunar New Year
Each year, the Mount Vernon community celebrates Lunar New Year, the start of the new year in many Asian cultures, as one of our major campus cultural celebrations.
Fountain Day
Marked by turning on the fountain on the Mount Vernon Campus Quad, this event allows for our community to come together again in the final weeks of the semester to celebrate everything that we have accomplished throughout the year.
Back to the Vern
The Mount Vernon community closes each year by inviting the graduating class of former campus residents back for one last celebration of GW achievement and success.
